TILLSLUTA Kitchen Canisters

IKEA tillsluta canisters

When organizing a small cabinet, square canisters are best to maximize space. IKEA makes some great square canisters with rubber gaskets. While the rubber gaskets make it a little difficult to get the lids off and on, it also keeps ants and flies out of your goods. IKEA makes the canisters in 5 different sizes. We use our canisters for sugar, brown sugar, flour, rice, pasta, cereals, oatmeal, grits, and masa.

*IKEA has since discontinued this line of products. You can find a similar line here.

The selected Optin Cat form doesn’t exist.

VARIERA Shelf Inserts

Smaller Shelf – 12 5/8 x 5 1/8 x 6 1/4″

IKEA small Variera shelf

Larger Shelf – 12 5/8 x 11 x 6 1/4″

IKEA large variera shelf

These shelves come in 2 different sizes. We use the smaller shelves in our bathroom cabinets and slide cabinets. The larger shelves are used in our kitchen cabinets and the cabinets in the entertainment center.

Some similar sized shelves are available here.

MOSSLANDA Picture Ledges

When you are a highly connected family like we are, storing all of our electronics in our small bedroom is quite a challenge. These picture ledges were the perfect choice for us to solve this problem. Our iPads, phones, and watches fit perfectly on the shelf.

VARIERA Fridge Baskets

In a small RV fridge, space is at a premium. One of the best pieces of advice I have even been given about grocery shopping when you live in an RV is to ALWAYS remove groceries from their original packaging. If it’s cheese sticks, we remove them from the bag they come in and place them in these handy baskets. The same thing goes for yogurts, fruit cups, or anything else that is individually packaged. The less packaging you can put in your fridge, the better. This principle also applies to dry ingredients. If it’s cereal, we remove it from the box and just place the bag is a basket under the couch or it goes in one of the canisters mentioned above. Gummy snacks, Little Debbies, etc. also fall into the same category.

KUNGSFORS Magnetic Knife Strip

IKEA kungsfors magnetic knife strip

Our magnetic knife strip helps keep all of our knives and kitchen scissors organized and out of our kitchen drawers. One of the main questions I see in online forums is whether these strips actually work. I can’t speak for all brands, but our IKEA one definitely works. We move our trailer frequently with our knives in place and have never lost one.

How did you attach the magnetic strip to the wall?

I just screwed to the paneling. But some good double stick tape might actually work better. The screws when they are only in the paneling tend to work there way loose. Due to all the pushing and tugging from putting and removing things from the strip.
