During our RV travels, there are several apps that we use to make our trips as smooth as possible. Many of these apps are free and can be helpful for more than just RV travel. Apps for saving money on fuel are some of the most important of these. Here is a look at some of the apps for RVing we use.

Gas Buddy

Gas Buddy Map view

Who hasn’t heard about Gas Buddy? It’s a given. Using the map view you can spot out stations on your route for the best prices. But take into account how old the price updates are. If the price hasn’t been updated in the last 24 hrs. there may be a good chance that price has changed.

Google Maps

Google Maps satellite view

Or just about any map app will work. No, you may not find gas prices with these apps. But they are useful in your fuel-saving plan. While traveling, Angelica will find a gas station that has a good price in Gas Buddy. Then, she will go over to Google Maps and pull up the satellite view of the station to see if we can navigate the RV in them.

Good Sam’s

Pilot Flying J

A Good Sam’s membership saves you money at Pilot and Flying J stations. The discount is 5 cent per gallon on Gas in the US. For diesel, the saving is 8 cents per gallon in the US. In Canada, you get a discount of 1 cent per liter Gas or Diesel. You can also receive a 5 cent per gallon on propane. You can use the Pilot/Flying J app to track your saving and find stations.

Murphy Drive

Murphy Drive

The Murphy Drive app can help locate Murphy stations. Through the program you earn points and with points, you can earn savings on fuel. Beware though, many Murphy stations are not RV friendly. Use Google Maps ahead of time to get a look at them.

Fuel Rewards by Shell

Fuel Rewards

Shell offers fuel rewards and discounts. They also have an app, but it is not needed. With their program, you get at least 3 cents off per gallon. The one caveat is that at least the higher discounts are only good for 20 gallons of fuel.

TSD Logistics

TED Logistics

This one is not an app but a diesel fuel savings program. TSD Logistics has a fuel card program where you get discounts on diesel fuel. Then TSD receives 10 percent of the savings. There is an EFS Card Control app that will show your charges and estimated prices after discount for locations.

Other Truck Stop and Gas Station Apps

Most truck stops and gas stations have rewards programs available. Many of them do not save you money on fuel. But you earn points that save you money in the stores.

Conclusion

So, there we have it. These are our most-used apps for RVing we use to help us save money on the road. I’m sure there are even more apps and programs available. Tell us about some of the ones you use.
