So, we’ve been parked for a few months. It’s for a couple of reasons. One, our youngest daughter is ready to get off the road and settle in a home. Two, our oldest daughter, who lives in the same town, is going to have a baby!
The Story
Back around September, we found a house for our youngest to rent and we all settled into the house. For us it’s just temporary. We have no plans to stay here long-term. But while we’re here, it’s the perfect time to do some renovations and repairs. The list has seemed to constantly grow and I was falling behind. So, while we are parked and not living in the RV. It makes all the work much easier and quicker.
Everyone Has A List. Don’t They?
Since we have a reno “list”, let’s try and list out what we want to get done.
- Remove our daughter’s bed and the loveseat from the slide
- Removing wallpaper and painting the walls.
- Finish putting down new flooring
- Paint the dashboard
- Finish painting cabinets
- Move a breaker panel inside the RV
- Install gas struts on the underbed storage
- Add some USB ports to the dashboard
- Repair the clothes hanging “rod” in the back closet
- Replace window valences
- Re-cover the stairway
- Change the oil and filters on the generator
- Install a 2nd vent fan cover
- Remove the old satellite dish from the roof
- Replace the fan motor in the rear A/C unit
- Buff and remove graphics from outside the RV
- Possibly paint or add new graphics
- Probably several more things we will think of
Well, there is the list. At least so far. Now it’s time to get to work.
First Things First
The first thing on the list I knocked out was removing the loveseat and our daughter’s bed from the living room slide. When we purchased the RV my first project was building a bed for our daughter. It is based on a twin-sized mattress but is actually a little shorter. It was constructed high enough that we could fit our dog kennel underneath it.
Now all that needed to come out! This was probably the easiest of the projects I have to complete. It went pretty quickly. And, now I can install the new flooring in the slide. Which again wasn’t that hard. I did have to work on some “stains” that were hiding under the carpet.
One thing we did that’s different from most is, installing the floor planks crossways instead of longways. We like to do things a little differently at times. The flooring is hickory luxury vinyl planking. I like that it installs tightly together and installs easily. Plus it looks really good!
What do y’all think?
