Do you struggle with remembering everything you’re supposed to do when taking down or setting up your RV? I know I’ve struggled at times. I’ve been several hours into a trip and remember that I didn’t turn off the hot water heater. This struggle can be frustrating.  That is why you need a good checklist.

Creating some good arrival and departure list can help to keep you organized and save you time and possibly your RV. I like to make multiple list for our set-up and take-down. A list for indoor and outdoor, arrival and departure. That way one person can work on the inside of the RV while another works on the outside. We even assign certain jobs for our kids to take care of.

To create your lists, spend a few extra minutes next time you set up or take down your RV. At each step write down or type it into a list on your smartphone. Then save or print out your list for your next trip. Try to keep your items in order of operation. Even having the order in which you load your things in your truck or basement storage. This can prevent you from playing a brand-new game of truck bed Tetris every trip.

I know, you may feel silly breaking out a list while your campground neighbors watch. But you will be able to setup an RV right and complete it in less time, looking like a pro.

Here is an example of an outside arrival and departure checklist. Feel free to print them out for yourself.
