One day I was in a public restroom with my 3 teenage daughters. I was waiting for them to get out, but they were taking forever, so I yelled out our last name. My oldest daughter came out so embarrassed that I yelled out our last name in a public restroom. I jokingly said, “What would you have rather me have called out? Yellow pineapples?” Well, it stuck! Our homeschool name even became Pineapple Academy. Anytime I needed to yell for my kids in a public place, a crowded room, etc., all I had to do was yell, “pineapples!” and they all would come running. Over the years, our kids have affectionately given me pineapple gifts for Mother’s Day, my birthday, and Christmas.

In the Deep South, where we are from, pineapples are a symbol of warmth, welcome, friendship and good southern hospitality. That’s truly what our family is all about.

About us

Philip and Angelica
Philip and Angelica

Allow me to introduce our family to you.

I’m Angelica, the matriarch of this crazy pineapple crew. I am a virtual bookkeeper and part-time want-to-be interior RV designer.

My husband is Philip is a locomotive engineer for a major railroad. When he’s not railroading, he works as graphic designer for my social media marketing business. While I am the wild and crazy one, he keeps me grounded and makes sure all that my crazy ideas come to life.

“Rings” is our oldest daughter and a cosmetologist in Georgia.

“Chunks” is our son. He graduates later this year with his certification in diesel technology.

“Crushed” is our second daughter. She will also graduate later this year with her certification in hair and makeup for the movies.

“Tidbits” is our youngest daughter. She has no idea what she wants to do as a career yet, but loves animals!

Our family of 4 (Philip, Angelica, Crushed and Tidbits) has transitioned from our traditional sticks and bricks into our travel trailer, affectionately named “The Tin Can”. Come and follow our journey through a 7-month renovation, our transition into full-time living and our adventures on the road.

Thank you, Debbie! We are so excited! The Tin Can was on the Tour of Homes at a recent rally and we got tons of “ooo’s and aah’s”. We are excited to show it off!

How many times have you been asked if you were swingers or in the lifestyle? We like pineapples also and have recently been told the pineapple is a symbol used by swingers to identify each other. 😮

No, we can’t recall anyone commenting to us anyway. Who knows what people might think. We don’t display pineapples on our rig either. Not necessarily because of what people might think.
