Rarely ever will you see me post restaurant reviews on our blog, especially fast food. I’m a foodie at heart and enjoy eating interesting foods out, when locally available. However, generally I’m so ready to eat that by the time I get my food, I’m not interested in taking pictures. Today’s really no different, I ate just about all of my food before deciding that Tacos4Life needed to be spoken about.

During a recent stopover in Concord, NC (just north of Charlotte), Philip and I were looking for a small bite to eat for lunch before we got back on the road. I saw the sign for Tacos4Life. We both enjoy a good taco so we decided to stop. Wow! We were blown away with what we found!

The Mission

These stories appear on all of the napkin holders highlighting families who have received help from Feed My Starving Children.

According to their website, Tacos4Life currently has 16 locations in Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas with a 17th location coming soon in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The restaurant was founded by Austin and Ashton Samuelson of Conway, Arkansas in 2014. The Samuelsons learned in 2009 that approximately 18,000 children die everyday worldwide from starvation. Austin and Ashton knew that they had to help.

See Tacos4Life is not just a restaurant, it’s also a mission. For every taco, salad, rice bowl or quesadilla sold in their restaurants, 22 cent is donated to the non-profit Feed My Starving Children. Since they began in 2014, Tacos4Life has donated over 2.2 million meals.

The Food

The mission is great, but so is the food! Think chef designed street tacos. Philip had the pork carnitas taco and a Korean BBQ steak taco with the Mexican creamed corn for his side. I had the fried chicken taco and the Korean BBQ steak taco with the refried black beans.

I will post the pictures of the actual menu below but here are the descriptions from the menu of the items we had. Each taco can has it’s own “tortilla” that it comes standard with or you can order them on one of the following: crunchy corn tortilla, steamed corn tortilla, lettuce shell, soft flour tortilla, or fluffy flour tortilla.

Pork Carnitas Taco – “Citrus and cumin slow-roasted pork, house-made quest, cabbage, cilantro, green onion on our puffy flour tortilla”

Fried Chicken Taco – “Buttermilk fried chicken, lettuce, chipotle aioli, a drizzle of honey on our soft flour tortilla”

Korean BBQ Steak taco – “Korean BBQ sauce, cabbage, wonton strips, yum-yum sauce on our soft flour tortilla”

Mexican Creamed Corn – “Sweet corn layered with cotija cheese and cilantro”

Refried Black Beans – “slow-simmering and seasoned in-house topped with chipotle sour cream and cotija cheese”

In Conclusion

The only negative thing Philip or I had to say about the food was a bit on the spicy side. Philip didn’t mind one bit and actually added more hot sauce to his tacos. I’m pretty much a wimp when it comes to spicy foods. I think I drank about 4 glasses of sweet tea while eating my lunch.

thanks to you, meals have been sent to hungry kids all over the world

If you find yourself near one of Tacos4Life’s 16 locations, please give it a try for yourself. Remember that you’re not only feeding your family, but you are also feeding children in need around the world.
