If you follow our Facebook page, you know that we recently returned from 2 week trip to Canada to attend the 2018 Fulltime Families Canada Rally. This is our second rally with Fulltime Families. We also attended the 2018 Fulltime Families Under the Sea Rally in March. To our family, rallies mean so much too us. They provide the sense of friendship, fellowship, & community. That’s just the benefits for Philip and I. Our kids gather so much more!
Friendship
Rallies provide you an opportunity to form and growfriendships with families who share like interest. These are people we will runinto over and over again on the road. These friendships will remain for yearsto come. We have a couple of friends from the road, who have recently left theroad to move overseas. We still keep up with them on Facebook.
Fellowship
Sitting up late into the evening around a campfire talking. Having potluck after potluck with wonderful conversations. Attending seminars about homeschooling, how to save money on the road, RV maintenance, etc. It’s all about ways to get
Community
When you meet with these otherfamilies, you create a community for yourself. A community who lives the sameway you do. A community who understands the problems and concerns that you facebeing on the road fulltime. A community who reaches out to help in times ofneed. A community who has been where you’re heading. A community that supportsyou.
Our Kids
Our kids experience all of those things too, but there’s so much more for them. Rallies also teach kids educational things. All kids learn about the rally topic. The older kids (ages 10 – 18) also learn about different aspects of business. Philip and I led a group of 20 older kids in Canada. Our group created businesses, created a promotional poster about their business, and held a service project auction. Some services offered included rig washing, babysitting, and pet walking. In the evenings, they had a scavenger hunt, s’mores roasts, and more. Most evenings, Philip and I could be found around the campfire supervising a dozen or so youth during friendly card games and hangouts. We hope that the friendships our children form during time will show them that they are not alone during this journey and will stay with them into adulthood.
